Owned by the Rapid City Economic Development Foundation, Ascent Innovation was built in 2006 and was originally named the Black Hills Business Development Center. True to its core, the center was constructed on the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology campus and became a hub for startup technology business with expotential growth and student skill development opportunities by offering quality, affordable space. In addition to startups, the center is dedicated to incubating the innovation district in Rapid City by introducing new-to-the-area businesses to the community with its services.
